Yesterday

One year ago yesterday you took me on an adventure. "Did you know that yesterday, one year ago, was the day you took me on our surprise date?" I asked you. We braved the light rail for the first time and went to the Science Center. The line spanned from the admissions window up the stairs and through a beautiful courtyard, past several historic houses. Star Trek, or something. I could see the disappointment on your face. Instead of allowing you to become flustered, I suggested we take some pictures by the trees in the yards of the houses. That's when the course of our day changed. You said there was a mall nearby, so we began to walk; we photographed our every move. We explored and had a wonderful day. You said, "you are a loser for knowing that". I love you too.

Tumottiwa

"Tumottiwa" is what you wrote when you meant to write "tomorrow". I'm assuming you were so excited you must have leaned on the keyboard and punched random keys with enthusiasm. You were talking about our date tomorrow, that you says is a surprise, so I wouldn't doubt your excitement for a second. Where are we going? I wonder. I would keep guessing, because there are very few places it could be, but I really wouldn't want to spoil it. My stomach is filled with butterflies just like the day we first met. I really am in love with you.

"The Surface of Things"

Sitting in my English 222 lecture today with Dr. Lussier, I felt a sudden sense of panic. My research paper, which at this point is barely grazing 500 words, is due in 2 days. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks, even though I've been researching and writing for a little less than a week. It was something he said, about how we are all on the surface of things, looking downward. I need to quit looking, taking nervous glances, and get to work. "Of course what is coming? Rain." If there is a storm brewing, I should buy an umbrella.
